I Was Offered A Bible Study By The Elders
by minimus in2 elders, the cobe and his sidekick, a former bethelite and a young ms (elder in waiting) stopped by my mom's home while i was visiting with her.
they were very congenial and eventually asked me if i got invited to the memorial and whether they could arrange a future visit with me and a possible study.
i thanked them and told them i appreciated their invitation but that i was going to "pass at this time" but thanked them for their concern.. they recited a "wonderful experience" about a young man that was raised in the "truth" but wanted out so he decided to go to asia where he could not be found by witnesses.

Sooo Armageddon comes....
by MsGrowingGirl20 inso let's say armageddon comes,do you believe that all jw's would be destroyed because jehovah knows it's a false religion...it can't be denied, for the most part, they try to live by the bible...if anybody has to be punished i would say it's the leaders...i know that god wouldn't judge a whole organization but persons individually....so what i'm trying to ask is....do you think you're in a better position right now not for freedom but for salvation than the witnesses??
if by the time you're finished reading this post armageddon is here...would u wish that you still were a witness or are you satisfied that you've made god proud?.

.....I cannot believe that persons haven't really thought about it...
Who do you think you're talking to, exactly? You believe that people who spent many years as JWs haven't "really thought about" Armageddon? We had the concept hammered into our brains, ad nauseum. It used to be all I ever thought about.
One of the best things about being free, is having the luxury to think about, and build my life around, other ideas; things more pleasant, and rooted in reality.

somehow i get the feeling that this is a question that a lot of people have doubts about...and may even be scared to face
You seem to be the one scared of Armageddon. Most people who have commented don't express any belief in it at all. You are making a lot of assumptions on this thread, and most of them are completely wrong.

yeah but it can't be denied
Yes, it can.
no doubt we're seeing the fulfillment of Jesus prophecy about the last days
No, we aren't
so the Bible has some merit!
No, it doesn't.
You are seeing what you want to see, and trying to attach great significance to completely arbitrary events. And you are attempting to use these assertions as proof to validate a belief system that is completely unprovable.

What the devil is capable of
by StopTheTears inthrough the years i and many of my companions have seen quite a few things done by devils that are not specifically mentioned in the.
bible including things similar to this:.
i received an im from some unknown source telling me that a crystal ball was going to be delivered in our church building.

A dirt devil is capable of vacuuming the stairs. It's really quite impressive.

I don't. I accept Christ, and what he taught and showed. It is that simple. HE is the image of God.
Based on what, other than a book full of contradictions?
Not a book
Then what? From what source did you come to accept what Christ taught and showed, as coming from God himself, if not from the bible? Did it come to you in a dream?

It really is not as complicated as people make it out to be.
I suppose it isn't, if you accept the notion that only the warm and fuzzy parts of the bible are meant to be interpreted literally.

I do not believe that God struck that child down in punishment of David because he states that he does not punish the child for the father.
Oh, now I get it. The bible doesn't really mean what it says in one place, because it says something contradictory elsewhere.
So what is a person to believe, then? The parts that show God to be a vengeful, bloodthirsty SOB, with a warped sense of justice, or the contradictory parts that say he couldn't possibly behave in such a way?

The GB is like a chick in a really short mini-skirt just desperately trying to cover their ass.
Thank you for ruining mini-skirts for men everywhere.
